J. Cole - Friday Night Lights
This is a good year for Rappers that I personally like to listen to. When people say hip hop is dead, or has alot of wack music out there...rappers like J.Cole are highly appreciated.
Regardless of the comparisons to Drake, there is without a doubt that you cannot compare the 2 rappers.
Plus, Drake don't make his own beats.
Regardless, I appreciate music from both since they take a fresh approach with using witty lyrics with a dope flow and making a great selection at selecting beats to rhyme over.
If you would like to hear what i'm talking about...listen to this mixtape below:

North Coast Music Festival Review
Personally, I have experienced previous performances with many of the artists that were on the roster at the North Coast Music Festival (NCMF) and I knew this was going to be a night that many people would never forget. When looking at the line-up my first impression was "wow, this is the Chicago festival that any music fan will enjoy." Groupon posted a discount price on a 3 day pass, and I did not hesitate to pull out my credit card from my wallet and complete the purchase ASAP. I had purchased my Groupon 3 day pass which allowed me the opportunity to attend the festival from beginning to end. Although, due to personal reasons I was only able to attend the first 2 days of the event. The best way I can describe this festival is by calling it, Chicago's mini version of california's "COACHELLA" festival.
Friday was a fun day to get familiar with the stage locations, the beverage options and get a vibe for what to expect over the weekend. Considering this was a music festival and not a food exhibition event, the food options were pretty good. There is nothing better to do between acts than to hit up a port-o-potty real quick to keep the party going, then walk across a great variety of food to eat to keep your energy level up in order to be able to resume to your musical experience. Unfortunately, the port-o-potty access and beer ticket lines would later become similar to the lines at the DMV (extremely long).
The fun thing about these festivals is that it gives you the ability to cherry pick the artists you personally want to see while giving you leg-room to venture into hearing an artist you never heard of before.
Considering the options there were 2 artists that I was highly anticipating (for Friday). The two artists were Paul Van Dyk, and the Chemical Brothers. I had the pleasure of experiencing the amazing musical and visual performance of the Chemical Brothers when they came to Chicago a few years ago and I was just as excited to see them again. Although prior to the Chemical Brothers performing, Paul Van Dyk was scheduled for a one hour set.
Paul van dyk showed up to the stage 30 minutes late so away, I was disappointed. The fact that I was waiting for him to show up on time, and now I only get half of a set than I had anticipated makes my impression of his participation of the festival less than satisfactory. Considering the lack of time he had to get the crowd rockin', he definitely provided all the bangers he had in his music selection and blended them very well. The crowd was jamming out without hesitation as soon as he played his classic track "For an Angel" early in his set. He apologized for the short set when he was done, which in my opinion does make a difference that he would at least acknowledge he may have disappointed some fans for his late arrival. It's OK Paul, just make up for it next time you come to Chicago! :)
Time was passing by fast after the Paul Van Dyk set and I needed to make a bathroom break and wait in line for some more beer. By the time I got back to the North Stage, it wasn't long until the Chemical Bros set was to commence (That's how long the lines were). While waiting for the set to begin, I got a chance to mingle a bit with conversations of the people around me that were also securing their front row spots. I got a chance to meet 2 photographers (One being Lenny). Although unfortunately, due to licensing issues of some sort all of the photographers were essentially pushed to the curb from access to the front of the stage. This was a bit disappointing although, I'm very sure Lenny kept the pictures coming regardless. While having conversations with the people around me at front row, I realized that nobody really had a clue as to what they were going to expect from a Chemical Brothers live set. All I could tell them is that their live performance is BY FAR, the best live show I have ever got a chance to witness in my entirely life. Many thought I was exaggerating until 15 minutes into the set, those that didn't believe me were tapping my shoulder and showing a facial expression saying "OMG (Oh My God), you were right!"
If you get a chance to see pictures and/or video of this live set...trust me, seeing it live is like NO OTHER live performance when it comes to a musical experience. Tiesto comes close although, the chemical brothers just have so much more of a variety to offer when it comes to their music selection. Their musical performance resulted in body surfing, beach balls and inflatable gators being thrown everywhere during the set, with people throwing and wearing their glow in the dark wristbands. It was just a great outdoor musical experience that had everyone looking forward to the rest of the weekend. The Chemical Brothers definitely set the tone for the rest of the festival and had people excited to what else there was to expect in the next few days.
Saturday was an interesting day to begin with considering the amount of drinks I had on Friday. I'm 26 and the first night of the festival ALREADY has me sore from all the jammin' out, screaming and yelling I was doing. The Pink line trip to the Ashland exit was fine, although finding parking near the train station to head out had me delayed to miss the Two Fresh set I was looking forward to.
I was never a fan of Two Fresh although listening to the North Coast Music Festival music playlist on LAST.FM got me to instantly become a fan of their music. I missed their performance although I'm sure it must have been as great as it seemed.
My 2 picks of the evening to look forward to was Jay Electronica and De La Soul. Personally I recently became a fan of Jay Electronica from his mixtape "What the F*** is a Jay Electronica?" He has lyrical skills that are by far unique in this rap game. His original talent is specifically showcased in the song in which he rapped over the movie score to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Jay got the attention of everyone at the event when he decided to allow the crowd on stage. Personally I have never seen a rap artist do this at a festival but this was a great thing to watch. Jay Electronica with a crowd full of fans on stage with him rapping to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. About a minute into the set, security started pulling people off the stage at which Jay told the Dj to "stop the music" and told the security guard "THEY'RE WITH ME!." His attempt to keep the crowd on stage was not strong enough for security to allow the fans on stage as they kept pulling people away regardless of Jay's demand. The music started playing again and Jay extended his arm defending his fans and continued to rap while staring down the security guard and getting in his way as if saying "you can't take these from me, these people are mine and here to stay!" Personally, never have I seen such a a strong affection from an artist to his fans. His devotion to his fans extended to the point of him deciding to allow 3 fans to get on stage and perform in front of the festival crowd. He stated "I woudn't be up here if someone didn't give me a chance so I will give some people here a chance to show ya'll what they got."
One would assume that unsigned, fans that have no experience performing in front of such a large crowd would possibly end in a disaster or someone being booed off stage. Although, the 3 rappers that got on stage performed decently and got a small applause considering that they had to decide how to perform on the spot.
Next up was De La Soul's performance. For any hip hop fan, this set can't bring disappointment at all. These guys know how to get a place rocking. Their great ability to synchronize each other's ad-libs with perfection while being straight on point with the flow on all of their classic songs is something every hip hop fan should watch. These guys are veterans in the hip hop game and definitely prove it by their great ability to have the crowd remember how fun hip hop should be. Jay Electronica was definitely a great transition of some solid hip hop into the De La Soul performance whom bring out Dres (From black sheep). At that point as soon as he performed "This or That" the crowd went crazy for the classic hip hop that was being presented at the festival.
Saturday was such a fun day for REAL hip hop music in Chicago with the music provided by Jay Electronica followed by De La Soul.
Next up to perform was Moby, although he was not performing live. Moby's performance was going to to be provided via his DJ skills. Personally , I had seen Moby perform at his Area 2 concert in Detroit and was very impressed by his LIVE performance back then. Considering the upbeat and crowd energy that his live performance can provide, his dj set did not keep me intrigued to stay at the festival any longer and I decided to get some good food on the way out and left the festival EXTREMELY pleased with my experience overall.
All in all, I had a great time at this festival regardless of the fact that I was unable to stay for the 3rd day which seems to be the official climax of the event. Chemical Brothers and Jay Electronica definitely were the highlights of my experience of the North Coast Music Festival and I really look forward to having the opportunity to see this happen again next year (assuming that it's a possibility). In Chicago, these kind of events don't come around too often (If you don't count the VERY EXPENSIVE Lollapalooza) so everyone please support these events whenever possible to allow chicago to continue to be recognized as a great city with sports Fanatics, amazing food and fantastic music events.

Headphone Shopping
My new job is so far so good but, i'd rather put on my headphones and enjoy my time focusing on work and keep my job during this recession.
I just got back from shopping for headphones at best buy.
I personally like the options Best-Buy provides as far as letting a consumer truly listen to the quality prior to making a purchase. I got to try out all of the latest headphones available at the moment (excluding the Rocnation Aviators).
One thing that I was impressed with originally was the DiddyBeats.

My initial impression was "there is no way in hell in ear headphones can be anything comparable to the over the head phones."
Considering all of this hype in regards to Beats by Dr. Dre and seeing musical artists, athletes and their mommas rockin' beats headphones I wanted to listen to why the price tag is so high.
My background has always been "you pay for what you get," especially when it comes to the quality of an audio product. That is not necessarily the case with the headphones today. Don't get me wrong, Beats by Dr. Dre are VERY GOOD HEADPHONES. I will not say "them things are wack" ANYDAY. Those things are mad dope although the question really comes down to "WHICH beats headphones are you using?"
I tried out the DiddyBeats right next to the Beats Solo headphones and I have a few things to mention while comparing the two.
The price comparison is very similar as far as what you are paying although the noise cancellation of the DiddyBeats was so good, it made ALL THAT DIFFERENCE when comparing them to the Beats Solo headphones.
The in ear headphones go way into your ear (COMFORTABLY) and cancel out the noise so you truly get to hear everything in the music.
Also the in ear headphones do not rely on a battery to keep the musing running so THAT ALONE had me very impressed that they can provide such high quality sound.
In ear headphones should never cost over 100 dollars in my opinion though. These things are pretty nice but...SORRY, that is just too much. Those Chinese knock-offs on eBay REALLY know what people are willing to spend on them things. LOL. But I will say, I was VERY close to buying the DiddyBeats.
The Beats Solo headphones are pretty dope.
Although considering that the beats solos go ON THE HEAR instead of OVER the ear, it makes them uncomfortable to wear.
The other draw-back was that the headphones seem so flimsy. I understand you want to give the glossy plastic look and the look should match what is the back of most ipod touches although considering people are forking out 150 bucks MINIMUM for these headphones. Do not make them lacking in durability so that they have to come back and buy another pair because they accidentally sat on them one day. I think they probably thought to themselves "if they're not spending 300 bucks to their audio investment, they are gonna get the shitty durability design." I guess it sticks to what I stated earlier "you get what you pay for." but in this case, is this what you should get for 150 dollars?
I tried out the Bose over the ear headphones.

And to be honest, these things sound just as clear as the Beats Solo headphones and in my opinion have minor differences in sound when it comes to the quality that you are getting.
I actually thought that the Bose headphones provided more clarity OVERALL of sound. Can't really explain the reason why and I'm not the SUPER NERDY TECHNICAL dude to do all of the research into why they sound clearer but weirdly, THEY DO. Personally I think these are a better purchase if you had to choose between the beats solos and the bose headphones.
Although personally I think Beats just stand out so much in a brand name and with Dr. Dre tied to the brand, it's hard to just go with a brand that has been around a while compared to the "NEW HOT SHIT IN TOWN!". lol. Marketing does fuck with your head in that manner and I will be honest, even though the clarity was better with the Bose headphones, bass sounded louder on the beats which is why I would go with the beats on top of the fact that the Beats headphones look nicer.
Flat out if I had the money, I would go with the Beats Studio headphones HANDS DOWN!

These things provide the Bass I would expect, the mids and highs I truly miss and they really do change the way you listen to music after you hear them once. After putting them down, I wanted to go back and listen to music on them ONCE AGAIN.
But with that price tag, I can't afford them shits. They're dope in sound, style, and features but...THAT'S JUST TOO MUCH.
Just when I was considering leaving empty handed because I noticed I don't have money to spend on what I TRULY want I came accross these being available to listen to...

The Skullcandy Skullcrushers. I remember coming across these on ebay last year and thought to myself they might sound pretty good. The demo booth had a button to turn off the sub-woofer button and turn it back on and WHOAH, did I notice the sound difference. The sound clarity wasn't up there in comparison to any of the beats headphones but MAN, did these headphones POUND. I personally listen to alot of hip hop and Trance music and when it comes to bass...I LOOOOOOOOOVE BASS.
I make hip hop beats and mix trance music and have done studio engineer work for a few local artists in chicago so I UNDERSTAND the reason for quality. Although, I want to have fun when listening to music and when all this technical stuff comes into play about who has the best frequency, who has the best drivers that reproduce music in the way it was intended...when I hear the skullcrushers I just think "How much are these going for since EVERYONE ELSE wants to screw me over on my budget"
When I noticed the 70 dollar price tag I was VERY SHOCKED. I went around and listened to all of the headphones again. I did not listen to all of them only once, I went around twice to make sure I wasn't just going on the price difference alone. The Skullcrushers REALLY impressed me with the bass they provide.
I BOUGHT THE SKULLCRUSHERS!!!
If I wanted to listen to music in the CRYSTAL CLEAR fashion I would go with the 300 dollar Bose, or the 300 dollar Beats headphones.
I wouldn't even bother with the Beats solos to be honest. The sound quality is DEFINITELY noticeable so get something that is worth saying you spent over a hundred dollars for and can last you a couple of years.
The DiddyBeats sound great but I have a feeling there might be a cheaper alternative to those. I haven't done my research but I just have a gut feeling there is a great alternative available than to pay 150 for in ear headphones. Best-Buy didn't have any for me to try out so I just have to go with my instinct on that one.
If you want something that makes listening to music fun, and in a cheaper manner get the skull-crushers.
TO BE HONEST...I'm going to return my skullcrushers to best buy because I noticed they were WAY CHEAPER on amazon with free shipping.
Check it out:
http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-SCS-SCBP3-5-Skullcrushers-Subwoofer-Headphones/dp/B000OYFOVM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1282362533&sr=1-1
I recommend the skullcrushers to anyone wanting to upgrade their headphones although be warned...the sub-woofers require battery power. 1 AA battery is needed but when considering the competition at higher prices...the battery is required to almost all of the other options.
Let me know what you think...

iPhone 2g with T-mobile 9.99 Internet on Jailbroken iPhone
If you are going to be on an unlocked iphone and don't want to worry about APPLE'S DRM against jailbreaking with every firmware upgrade, 2g is the way to go.
It has been ages since there were any worries about your iphone unlock being threatened on the iphone 2g. You unlock once on the iphone 2g, you won't have to be concerned about losing your unlock again there-after.
3g, and the upcoming 4g will always be controlled by Apple when a new update is released and you have to start your jailbreak and unlock research ALL OVER AGAIN.
I stick to 2g, I won't lose my unlock and I still get to enjoy all of my apps on the T-mobile network.
FOR SOME REASON, if T-mobile finds out you're on an iPhone, they keep pushing the 29.99 internet plan LIKE CRAZY. I was even recently told that if you try to use the iphone on the 9.99 basic internet plan, that it wouldn't work and even if it did, it would be PROBLEMS LIKE CRAZY. Another employee even told me that if I had the 9.99 plan, and i tried to use the iphone with it, it would AUTOMATICALLY switch to the 29.99 plan without my consent (which seemed illegal to me?).
So I kept calling and kept being persistent and told them that I will change my phone to the old one I had and if it "switched" to 29.99 on its own when i switch to the iphone, that i wouldn't mind at that point but I want 9.99 RIGHT NOW for my non-iphone cell phone.
I got it active on my account FINALLY.
I used the following settings on the SETTINGS > General > Network > Cellular Data Network
I activated my 9.99 plan on Friday, it is now Sunday night and have had no problems with this service since. I was wondering if it had switched over to the 29.99 plan like I was told before and apparantly, IT HAS NOT. I knew I was hearing bullshit when I was told I had no choice because big brother was watching what phone I was using.
This is where I confirm I'm still on the 9.99 internet plan.
One thing I recommend you do is change the device that you're using on your t-mobile account via the web. I decided to choose the T-MOBILE WING device to be registered under like so...
My internet is not BLAZING FAST, nor is it necessarily "convenient" when it comes to using it with fun apps on the go.
But it does
- Check my e-mail anywhere (This is my #1 reason to have internet on my phone)
- Check and update my Facebook using the Facebook App (Loading times are tolerable)
- Check and update my Twitter account using Tweetie (Loading times are also tolerable)
- Check out the games using Espn ScoreCenter (Loading times are ok)
- Use Google Maps to check out the traffic to and from work (Gps is slow but I just use it for maps)
Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Ghostly thoughts
Taking that into consideration, I can honestly say I have never seen a ghost. There have been times where I thought I may have seen one from the corner of my eye but nothing where I can say "whoah, I know for a fact I saw that!" The ghost is as real as the anticipation of seeing one. At least to me that's the case.
The funny thing about ghosts is that there's always that friend or two that says they saw a ghost and have some CRAZZy story about their encounter. The problem I have with that is, i don't want to just take their word for it. I don't want to call them a Liar or anything but, if I have never had that ghost casual encounter in my entire life, how can I think that some story I hear is real.
So the real question is, have you seen a ghost? Is your story true and real or did you THINK you saw one and tell the story for conversation purposes when the opportunity arises?
Until my story comes, I'm assuming everyone is full of sh!t. Lol.
I'm still curious to see what everyone has to say.

Brother Ali - Tight Rope [In Studio Performance]
I remember when I was hearing this track as it progressed I was like DAMN, ALI IS RIPPIN' THIS ONE UP!!!!
I have been a fan of Brother Ali for a few years ever since my friend Jam One gave me a heads up about him. His voice just fits boom bat hip hop beats sooooooooooooo nice. He's one rapper when you say that his flow is NICE, and it really is just so smooth when it's laced over a dope beat which he has a good sense of what sounds good. Too many times, good rappers choose some really wack beats to rap on, but Ali rarely does that.
Notice the last verse on this song, he's talking about a gay kid and how the kid is feelin' inside.
"Boy terrified to let the world in, he has girlfriends but doesn't want a girl-friend."Much props for creativity and change in topic in this hip hop galaxy. Way to reach to a crowd that rappers usually shy away from. It's all about the struggle of life...
"Daddy said people go to hell for being, what he is and he certainly BELIEVES HIM."

I love re-doing online chain letters...
After reading it, I said "ok, now this is some destiny's child, pro-women, bullshit propaganda. I'm gonna keep it real with a rebuttal.
Whatever u give a woman, she’ll make it greater. Give her sperm; she’ll give u a baby. Give her a house; she’ll make it a home. Give her groceries; she’ll make u a meal.< Give her a hug and she’ll give u her heart.> She multiplies & enlarges whatever she’s given. So if u give her crap, be ready to receive a ton of shi...t" Post this on your wall if you agree!
Here is my "ESSAYBEATS.COM" edit...
Give her sperm, she will undermine it cause she probably got some from other doners a month or two ago that to her eyes was "MUCH BETTER" but will lie to you and say you're the best. Give her a house, her ass will expect u to get her a car next. Give her groceries, she'll argue how women are not "meant" to be in the kitchen in 2010. Give her a ... See Morehug, she'll ask "why you so nice? what you been up to? Any other bitch around?". She will be over-dramatic and will try to turn everything into a negative if she had a bad day.
So if you give her crap, be ready to remind her of all the shit you have given her and her ass better realize the reality and keep her eye on the prize or she can lose it all.
LOL.

Too many games too often...

I can totally agree with this guy about this topic. I myself ended up trading in Borderlands before my 2nd playthrough due to Modern Warfare 2 coming out. I also traded in my unfinished playthrough of Battlefield Bad Company since I assumed I would consume my life with COD, and found out there would be a sequel coming out not much after COD MW2. So with that said, I totally understand this guy's frustration with the gaming industry just offering too much, too fast.
Ultimately it really leaves people playing more videogames than ever before, and also creating a new amount to spend on your monthly spending habits.

Original Xbox will no longer support Xbox Live

This is coming from Major Nelson's blog
(http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/02/05/xbox-live-being-discontinued-for-original-xbox-consoles-and-games.aspx)
I wanted to let you know that on April 15, 2010 Microsoft will discontinue Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games, including Xbox 1 games playable on Xbox 360. Our first step in this process will be to turn off auto-renewals for those members who only use Xbox LIVE on a v1 Xbox. While I can’t comment on the specifics, this change will allow us to continue evolving the LIVE service with new features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the Xbox LIVE community. We did not make this decision lightly, but after careful consideration and review we realize that this decision will allow us unprecedented flexibility for future features.
I don't know, this reminds me alot of when the psp version of Fight Night was no longer getting online support because of the release on the console. I think it sucks that they will no longer support older games. I can understand the console but if you play those older games on your 360, i think you should still be able to play on xbox live if you're using your 360. Although, if they're taking away support for older games, they BETTER hook me up with better free content in the near future or else i'm gonna be pretty pissed as a faithful xbox supporter.

Street Camera Light Enforcement...
Seriously, the fact that these machines are created to take place the job of a local police officer (which is a human being earning a wage, and has sworn to protect the general public of crime), just baffles me because the idea that machines will make sure we don't break the law seems somewhat possible.
I'm not gonna lie, the only cool part is that you can see pictures of your violation online, and they can even provide video if the camera supports video of your violation. It made me feel like a bad ass.
Instead of paying 100 bucks, charge 45 since this is not using an actual police officer's time to catch someone in the act.
The camera takes a snapshot and sends the info to the police does not equal a 100 dollar fine, sorry. If you wanna charge me 100 bucks at least get A PERSON to catch me in the act to make it fair.
This just sucks. I'M DONE VENTING...lol.

Boring or exciting? - Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer unveiled a new tablet PC ("Slate-PC") at CES 2010
Before you waste your money on a first generation iPAD, watch this first. Windows has something that seems to have more features...more like...AN ACTUAL TABLET PC. Something that Apple seems to have fallen short of.

Mayweather Tells Dj Whoo Kid Why The Pacquiao Fight Got Cancelled
I was very upset after finding out that Mayweather wasn't fighting Pacquaio anymore. Although, I found out yesterday that Mayweather is going to fight Mosley on May 1st.
To be honest, i've been wanting these 2 guys fight the last 4 years. This is a fight I have been wanting to see for so long, I can't boycott boxing. They made a good move to still keep a few boxing fans watching until the Mayweather and Pacquaio fight happens by giving a Mayweather vs Mosley matchup.

Ol' Dirty Bastard - Dog Sh*t
LMAO, this song has one of the funniest lines i've ever heard in rap. "Callin' me a dog, well leave a dog alone. Cause nothing can stop me from burying my bones. In the backyard of someone elses house, old dirt dog, but I'm not dogged out. Here comes rover, sniffin' at your ass, Pardon me bitch as I shit on your grass. That means ho, you've been shitted on. I'M NOT THE FIRST DOG THAT SHITTED ON YOUR LAWN!!!" LMAO.
"ur the type of bitch don't appreciate shit. Never had shit, so you wont be shit." ODB KEPT IT REAL! LOL. I miss homeboy.

Forsaken Gameplay 720p HD
I remember i spent countless hours staying up late as a kid playing this game. It was pretty creative for it's time. Plus it had industrial dance music which I was actually into back in the day. Good times, good times.
